Gary and I have wanted to travel to Edinburgh for years before we even discussed a wedding. To us, Scotland is the most beautiful, interesting and historically rich country in the world. We are both Medieval history enthusiasts, and Scotland harbors a wealth of historical relics such as castles, ruins and battlegrounds. Although we can barely wait to go, we decided that the perfect time for such a life-altering trip would be our honeymoon.

Ideally, we would like to stay for a week or more, and our hotel of choice is the Scotsman Hotel on Princes Street on the Royal Mile. The hotel sits on Edinburgh’s famous North Bridge, and is within walking distance of both Edinburgh Castle and Scott Monument.

While in Edinburgh, we plan to make the most of our trip by going on some of the many castle and city tours, a river cruise, and even an underground ghost tour through the tunnels beneath the city. There are many galleries and shows to take in, wonderful music and entertainment, and of course the famed Scottish restaurants and pubs to enjoy. We also would like to ferry from Scotland to Ireland to tour the remarkable countryside there, and stay in Dublin for a night or two. It truly will be the trip of a lifetime.
